Since April 2010, the Okayama University Institute of Plant Science and Resources (IPSR) serves as nationwide “Joint Usage/Research Center” for plant genetic resources and stress science (it is the only bioresources oriented university-affiliated institute of this kind in Japan). IPSR has state-of-art instruments and facilities for plant research and it specializes in plant responses and adaptation to variable stress conditions, utilizing broad variety of plant genetic resources developed in the institute.
Advanced research equipment and instrumentation, managed as common resources of the institute, are operated by experienced technical staff, which is available to the members of the institute as well as large number of our outside collaborators. A large assortment of joint research projects is started every year on the basis of public offerings open to Japanese research community. For more detailed information about the next application period for the regular collaboration projects, please click here (only available in Japanese).
In addition to regular projects, few international collaborations are also supported by the “Joint Usage/Research Center” program each year. These projects are usually announced in May and research work is conducted until next March.
A special “Call for the international IPSR Joint Usage/Research Center” proposals is open now. Check for details and application files here!
At present, we conduct research and accept collaborations in wide area of plant physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, and support them by state-of-art equipment and excellent research environment in the institute. In addition to highly developed research infrastructure at IPSR, we can offer our long-term knowledge and expertise in research of plant stress and development of genetic resources. To increase the effectiveness and further growth of the institute resources, outside researchers, their collaboration and, in particular, jointly developed ideas are considered as invaluable resources for promotion of plant science at national and international levels. Any Japanese or overseas researchers interested in development of outstanding collaborative research projects and use of common institute facilities or advanced research instruments (see more details) should contact institute staff at any time for more information. All requests will be conveyed to closest available specialist(s) as soon as possible.
