[内容紹介]
We describe the isolation of 12 JAZ (JASMONATE ZIM DOMAIN) repressor proteins of jasmonic acid signaling in wild tobacco species Nicotiana attenuata. We show that one of the new genes named JAZh is a crucial regulator of several defense responses against herbivores in tobacco. At the same time, silencing of JAZh revealed that this gene works as an important repressor of leaf necrosis in aging tobacco plants.
Experiments presented in this paper were conducted in Max-Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jena, Germany (previous workplace of I. Galis ~March 2011).
