【Upgrading barley research platform】

In this research team, we will upgrade the tools necessary for barley research and develop novel materials and contribute to breeding science, pathology and physiology. I am in charge of genetic modification technology of barley, and perform “optimization of transformation and genome editing”. We will construct a system that can apply transformation technology with diverse cultivars and genotypes, and will support transformation based on collaborative research. Also, in order to advance these technologies, it is necessary to facilitate the production of barley stem cells. In addition to genetic techniques, we will do “stem cell production technology development and elucidation of stem cell formation mechanism” by making use of metabolome analysis of barley cells, chemical screening for improving redifferentiation efficiency and imaging analysis.
