Report on the International Training Course (ITCPSS2025)
Theme: Plant Genetic Modification, Transformation, and Targeted Mutagenesis
The IPSR International Training Course for Plant Stress Science 2025 (ITCPSS2025) was successfully held from August 25 to 29, 2025. Over the five-day program, six participants engaged in intensive lectures and hands-on training focused on plant genetic modification, transformation techniques, and targeted mutagenesis.
Highlights included a special lecture by Dr. Cathie Martin from the John Innes Centre, practical sessions on barley transformation, and imaging analysis of transgenic barley expressing fluorescent proteins. These activities provided participants with both theoretical insights and practical skills in cutting-edge plant biotechnology.
In addition to the scientific program, participants had the opportunity to explore local culture through visits to the Seto Ohashi Bridge, the Ohara Museum of Art, and the historic Kurashiki Bikan District. These excursions offered a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Kurashiki and Japan.
