[内容紹介] Most plants respond to herbivore attack and wounding by production of the essential hormonal signal jasmonic acid, and jasmonates further activate transcriptional reprograming of plant cells to defense mode. While the production of jasmonates is immediate, it was not clear to what extent the pathway is already primed for hormone production. We show that all necessary enzymes in the pathway are ready and jasmonate production in rice is strictly controlled by the availability of the key pathway substrate alpha-linolenic acid (α-LA) that is released from cell membranes by yet unknown lipase in rice.(文責 Ivan Galis)
