主な研究テーマ

1. 植物ウイルスの分子生物学 (植物/病原ウイルス/媒介者)
ラン/ウイルス/ヒメハダニ、シロイヌナズナ/ウイルス、ムギ類/ウイルスなどの系を用いて、植物ウイルスの複製、伝搬性や病原性ならびに宿主側のウイルス防御機構(RNAサイレンシングなど)を分子、細胞、個体レベルで解析しています。また、最近発見された植物や昆虫類ゲノム上に存在するウイルス化石配列(非レトロウイルス様配列)の探索やその存在意義の解明、さらに植物ウイルスのベクター化にも取り組んでいます。

2. 菌類ウイルスの分子生物学 (植物/病原糸状菌/菌類ウイルス)
クリ/クリ胴枯病菌(子のう菌)/ウイルス、果樹/紋羽病菌/ウイルスの系を使い、菌類ウイルス(マイコウイルス)の病徴発現、複製・伝搬機構の細胞レベル、分子レベルでの解明を進めています。これらの成果に基づき菌類ウイルスの生物防除因子としての増強・利用を図り、ウイルスを用いた植物病原糸状菌の防除法(ヴァイロコントロール)の実用化を目指しています。
